hey ppl!!!
just a few pointers on matches in general

1. the pace only picks up after the first goal
start fighting the moment we start the game. for eg.the man u and chelsea match last night.man u prob only started attacking after chelsea scored 15min into the first half. and for those of us who played against ny...did the second feel shorter than the first?so the point is...

we've gotta put in our 101% effort right from the start of the game

tt's the point of our warmup isnt it?to ensure tt we'd be in good form and reduce percentage errors during the real game. see...cos in any match, we cant afford to waste any chances. every ball brought forward is a chance

2. the desire to win
like vj...nth is impossible if we want it badly enough. maybe we control our emotions better...but how many of us would cry after losing a match and feel so sad cos all the effort in training so hard has just been flushed down the toilet bowl. enjoying the process is one thing...but we have a lot a lot...too much...at stake to lose any matches...

3. negative pressure
aka no stress. its really true dun u guys think so?i was considering...maybe its because we wanted to beat ny so so much that it formed a kind of negative pressure tt made it such tt we din perform to our fullest.so yesh...no stress.just give it our best shot.
BUT
sometimes putting in our best is simply not enough...cos ultimately its the result tt matters...
just consider...
if we're actually the same standard as rj
if we're actually 1/8 the standard as vj

heh...sounds depressing?its just sad that if we lose our next match...the semifinals are almost as good as over.so i do hope tt everyone would just let go and play with all our guts and mind and soul for this is our deciding match...

jiayous everyone :)

option a: thrash rj, win sa, lose abit 2 vj
option b: thrash rj, win vj, lose abit 2 sa
option c: draw sa, draw vj, win rj
option d: juz win all lar

seriously tink c is easier 2 achieve since our defense is stronger. juz spam wif defenders, lyk all except 3 attackers on e other side=P but v risky cos if we aim 4 a draw on wed, but dun manage at least a draw against vj, den gg liao. but if we win sa, we shld b able 2 get into finals. but i'm assuming dat rj's a pushover. anw, v disadvantaged if it comes down 2 goal diff... tink we can manage 2 draws/ 1 win 1 draw against vj n sa? ha... abit scary=S

Saturday, April 29, 2006 - kp the spirits up

gals kp the sprit up. we must be strong in face of SA. nth is impossible.

I hate match days, well or at least pre-match nights. Cos my bdy just refuses to rest, too charged up by the adrenaline, I remember this, parasympathetic mechanisms coming into play, and of cos my head just brimming with a gazillion thoughts about what to do, what could happen during the match later.

I slept today at 0140hrs ppl, after watching survivor and then news for one hour on CNA. But Lo and behold, by 0336 hrs I was up, and after some turning and tossing around I decided to just wake up and see how, if I feel sleepy I will go back to sleep, if not its all the way from here. And all the way is a long time, cos its match in the morn, tuition during lunch time and then another match for VJO in the afternoon. Phew.

So what are my thoughts for the match?

Hmm to describe it simply, quietly confident. Why? Cos I played my hands right the last time we met. Had a good look at their team, whereelse they din take a good look at ours. We are defintely the underdog, but I wouldnt have it any other way. My only hope is that the team shares my confidence, my belief and my passion to win todays match, dats all, which is something within their control, but not totally in mine.

But if everybody does their part, pulls their weight and sticks to the instruction, then this is the day. This is the day when we once and for all dispel the apparent black and white that SA is one bar above the rest of the teams, cos they are not. And hopefully we will be the first ones to do dat.

God be with us.

Its 0413hrs now, and somehow, I am not tired or sleepy at all.

Its time.

Our time.

Out.

Monday, April 10, 2006 - If we believe in ourselves, others will too.

Dear one and all, please take time to read this but if you think its crap, then nvm =) highly quoted from my friends and some of my personal thought.

competition's just 10 days away and time is ticking away. i believe everyone is tired from the hard work, but amidst all preparations and i think its important to take a step back and reflect on ourselves. A blind and undirected struggle to achieve success will certainly not land us a position in the finals.

The success of a sportsman never comes easy and there are distinct qualities that differentiate a champion team that makes the cut and one that doesnt.

Rule number 1: You have to have a dream to have a dream come true
we only have to believe you can and thus u can. i rmb i was in primarcy school and i was playing in the inter class badminton match against some other teams. i like totally look down on my own friends and said they cannot make it. (paiseh, i primary sch tt time super mean one). then they all got super pissed with me and were determined to prove me wrong. and in the end they WON. i cant believe it, but yah, they WON, they were really qt lousy. i like waiyin's quote alot.. the ball is round, anything is possible. WE WILL PLAY IN THE FINALS GALS.

Rule number 2: Champions persevere to achieve their goals

this one sounds lame but its true. last time, i used to tell myself, i am weak i cannot run anymore. but its not true. i am not weak. i am hongli (get the joke hahahaha). anw the most impt thing is to persevere. trng may be harsh but everyone is gg thru this with you, fighting for the same goal. giving up and not being motivated wont get you anywhere. (like i've said, only the bus, mrt, taxi and aeroplane can). hang on!

Rule number 3: Courage is an ingredient that is indispensible in the recipe for success - the willingness to put oneself on the line, to risk embarrassment, to have no fear of failure.

Even to take the first step out to achieve what you want. If you are really afraid to fail then you may never try out new and innovative ways to improve. You may work hard yet eventually still overtaken by someone who is not afraid to fail. A method to ahieve this is to seek help from others and there are 2 types of people who attract truly qualified help: those who try hard, never admit defeat in the face of setbacks, and those who are always open to suggestions. Therefore, we as individual players must always be open to comments or even criticisms, and we must be willing to learn, pia and fight.

of course we know that we are not the only team aiming to become champions. There are others with the same goals in mind. in the end, I firmly believe that it still boils down to one very basic question once we set our goals, make our plans and begin our quest. We have to ask ourselves each and everyday, "How badly do we want it?" Because the thirst for victory is such a strong determination of success. Eventually, I believe that the team that wins it would be the one that wants it most.

and even though i cant play, i just want to say, for the seniors, we've worked hard enough for these 1 year 3 months and i've repeated like one million times to almost everyone. this is our last chance to prove ourselves for all the hard work we've put in last year and now. for juniors. i hope you all will be more motivated to help us prove soccer girls right, everybody is given a chance to play, its only how much you want to work for tt position and for ur position.

even though i may whole day joke and post stupid jokes, i'm serious now.
we may not be the best individual players around but we will play together as the best team in the competition.
See you in the finals, hwachong. =)

this is beckham's first goal from midfield. miracles? you decide.
